I'm too young
to know the meanings
to hold to a life
of passions unsearing
Too young to feel sorrow
or fear of tomorrow
In a place that's so hollow
it leaves none to borrow

I'm too old to laugh
at your precious meetings
to dream of dryads,
mermaids, elves, wildlings
Too old to let stars
relieve unseen scars
and in shadow of those scars
to claw at the bars

Too old for believing,
too young to be leaving,
enjoying receiving,
not caring, unheeding,
to be talking and thinking,
pondering, wondering,
not feeling, not needing,
eyes gleaming, chest heaving

"Shut up and listen,
do as you're told"
I'm too old to be young
